Clondalkin Football Tournament
22nd June 2011

On Wednesday 22nd June Scoil Ide Girls' Football team participated in a football tournament organised by Round Towers GAA club in Gaelscoil Cluain Dolcáin. Eight local schools took part. The girls did Scoil Íde proud coming second. This was a great result for the girls in their first year playing football as they showed great desire, commitment and skills.

Match 1 - Scoil Ide V. St. Peter Aprostle's
St. Peter Apostle's 1-0
Scoil Ide 3-10

In the first match we faced St. Peters Apostles. It was raining for the second half and we all played well in the bad conditions . There was some great scores from Aoife Mc Brien, Courtney Morris. They scored one goal in the second half. Rebecca Walsh was excellent in defence before letting Sophie Mullen out the field from the goal. Every girl on the panel played brilliant when they came on. Every girl tried their best.
SCORERS: Aoife McBrien, Kate Morrow, Emma O'Malley (1 point each) , Aisling Seery ( 1-1),Timea Fodor (0-3), Jade Craig (1-0),Courtney Morris (1-1), Katherine (0-1).

Match 2 - Scoil Ide Vs. Gael Scoil Cluain Dolchain.
Gael Scoil Cluain Dolcháin 1-2
Scoil Ide 1-5

It was a tight match we played on an astro pitch. The pitch was very slippy from the weather conditions. We all played well even though the weather was bad. The team we were facing were skilful but we managed to win. Emma O'Malley was girl of the match at midfield scoring 1-4. Jade Craig worked hard at the back putting over a point from a good run with the help of Kate Morrow. Gaelscoil Cluain Dolcháin had many talented players but we worked very hard tackling and chasing. Rebecca Walsh booted it up the pitch with was caught by Timea Fodor and then hand passed to Emma O'Malley who kicked it over the bar for our final score.
SCORERS: Emma O'Malley (1-4), Jade Craig (0-1).

Match 3 - Scoil Ide Vs. Scoil Aine.
Scoil Ide 2-3
Scoil Aine 2-2
The third match was a hard match after Scoil Aine beating us back in September . The pitch was wet but we still played good. Rebecca scored a brilliant point from the full back line. Aisling Seery pulled off a superb goal by keeping it in play and knocking it in the back of the net. Sophie Mullen pulled off three brilliant saves of chances for goals. Emma O'Malley scored a point by going towards the sideline and shooting. We were through to the final to play Scoil Aine again. We all played great and enjoyed our selves.
SCORERS: Aisling Seery (1-1),Rebecca Walsh (1-1),Emma O'Malley (0-1).

Match 4 The Final: Scoil Ide Vs. Scoil Aine.
Scoil Aine 1-2
Scoil Ide 0-2

The final was the hardest match of all, especially because of bad conditions. The worst thing about it was because the ground was slippy. Scoil Aine had good players and so did we. Emma O'Malley and Aisling Seery made great blocks combined with great tackling from Phoebe Lawani to set up Jade Craig for what was the score of the day. Sophie Mullen pulled off brilliant saves yet again! But Scoil Aine still scored a goal. It was a good match but Scoil Aine won in the end with a goal in the last few minutes.
SCORERS: Jade Craig (0-1) and Aisling Seery (0-1)
