Parents' Association

Welcome to Scoil Íde Parent's Association page.

The Parents’ Association is proud to play an active role in the Scoil Íde community. In line with established good practice, we work with the Principal, Ms Ní Odhráin, all the staff and the Board of Management to build an “effective partnership of home and school”.

The purpose of the Parents Association (PA) is to provide a structure through which the parents/ guardians of all the pupils of Scoil Íde can work together for the best possible education for their children.

Current members of the PA 2018/2019 are:

Chairperson: Michelle Murphy
Secretary: Janice Mooney
Treasurer: Danielle Kearns
Committee: Debbie Dunne, Elaine Homan, Natasha Bryant, Bernadette Roberts.

Some of the aims and objectives of the PA of Scoil Íde are as follows:

  • The PA hopes to help all parents feel they have a part to play in the school and a contribution in helping to make their child’s years in the school a positive time in their life.
  • To represent the interests and views of parents of children attending the school. To inform parents of developments in Education and in Scoil Íde and the wider community.
  • To foster cooperation and promote good relationships between Parents, Principal, Teachers and the Board of Management.
  • To raise funds and to utilise the funds as deemed appropriate by the Principal and the Board of Management. Fundraising for the school by the Parents Association will be done with the prior agreement of the Board of Management.

Some of the events the Committee are involved in throughout the year, include: running the school book rental scheme, pupil personal accident insurance, the annual book fair, after school activities and the bedtime reading programme.

Some of our fundraising activities include: pupil personalised Christmas cards, Spring raffle and clothes recycling events. Pictured below are the new units and shelving which was fitted in 4 of the classrooms during the summer of 2015 and which our fundraising contributed towards can be seen below. We are now fundraising for the next 4 classrooms to be fitted out in 2016

We are encouraging parents to get involved with the committee in any way they can. If you are not in a position to join the committee but would like to help out with school events please email us at

Finally, we would like to thank you for your continued support and would like to remind you that we are all part of the school and if you have any comments, suggestions then please send an email to the above address.

Looking forward to hearing from you! Scoil Íde Parents’ Association Committee

Book Fair 2017:
The recent Scholastic Book Fair was a huge success!! It was great to see all the children excited about reading and choosing books. Our school received a whopping €1666 back in books, we couldn't be more excited, and every classroom will benefit hugely from this contribution.

We thank you all for supporting this event.

Fundraising 2017:
Money fundraised by us over the last school year contributed to the purchase of toys and equipment for new Aistear Curriculum for the Junior and Senior Infant classes.
We also sponsored the 5th class Bí Gnóthach project, congratulations to the 5th class girls and Ms. Ryan on their very successful business venture before Christmas.
Thank you again to all families for your continued support with our fundraising initiatives.

After School Activities 2017:
The current term of After School Activities will run up to and including the 19th of June.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank the 3 teachers who signed up to run them, Ms. Merrins, Mr. Enright and Ms. F McGrath.

We hope to run another term in September; we will send further details nearer the time. After school activities is open to all pupils from 1st to 6th class.

Personal Pupil Accident Insurance:
A reminder to any parents who took out Allianz Personal Pupil Accident Insurance through us that your child is still fully covered during the summer months and they are also covered outside of Ireland.

Just to highlight some of the benefits of the policy, Allianz do not apply an excess in respect of claims paid and your child has use of any of the VHI Swiftcare Clinics if they need medical attention as a result of an accident. Please keep any A&E or dental receipts (as a result of an accident) as these are needed when making a claim.

The policy will be renewed again in September with a premium of €10 per pupil. We will then send home full details of what the policy covers and its benefits along with application forms; in the meantime if you need any further details you can visit the Allianz website.

Sending our wishes:
We would like to congratulate the 6th and 2nd class girls who recently received the sacraments of Confirmation and Communion. You all looked so beautiful and we hope that you and your families enjoyed the very special day.

We also wish the 1st class boys and 6th class girls the very best of luck in their new schools from September.

Thank you,
The Parents Association.

We run a clothes recycling even twice a year, we earn €0.50c per kilo…an excellent boost to our fundraising!
