Cumann na mBunscol 2011

Well done to our girls' football team who participated in the Cumann na mBunscol semi finals on Thursday 10th November against Gaelscol Bhrian Boróimhe. Despite every girl giving 100% they were defeated by a very strong Swords team.
All in Scoil Íde are very proud of the team for reaching the semi final of this competition; it really was a wonderful achievement for a team that just formed a year ago. The girls played with great skill and determination throughout the competition and were a credit to their school.

Our Girls' Football team are participating in the Cumann na mBunscol league this year. We will have three matches in the group stages against the following teams:
Warrenmount N.S
GS Chuain Dolcain
Mater Dei.

Our first match of the competion took place in Gaelscoil Chuain Dolcain on their home pitch. Conditions for the match were quite poor with a strong breeze and wet ball. In the first half Scoil Ide had the advantage of playing with the wind allowing them score 3 excellent goals from Jade Craig and Emma O'Malley and 2 wonderful points by Aisling Seery. The second half Gaelscoil Chuain Dolcain played with the strong wind aiding them score 1 goal and four points. Aisling also got another goal in the second half.
All Scoil Ide players tried really hard resulting in a well earned victory. Well done to all!
Final score: Scoil Ide 4.2 Gaelscoil 1.4

Our second match of the competition took place against Mater Dei on our home pitch. We had a slow start to our game but we did manage score 2 points in the first half to Mater Dei's 1 point. In the second half the Scoil Ide girls increased their performance and managed to come out winners on a score line 2.7 to 1.1. Well done Girls.

Our third match of the competion took place against Warrenmount on the 5th October. We again came out winners in this match with great scores from Emma O'Malley and Aisling Seery. All our backs played very well especially Chloe Murphy Massey and Rebecca Walsh. Our star goalie, Sophie Mullen made a number of wonderful saves. Well done girls!
Final Score: Scoil Ide 5.2 Warrenmount 0.2

On Thursday 10th November our girls' team travelled to Hartstown to play against Gaelscol Bhrian Boróimhe. The girls' played with great determination and guts but unfortunately lost out to a stronger team on the day.

Have a look at our team playing in the Cumann na mBunscol league!
