Biodiversity.

We have all been working hard on the theme of Biodiversity. Biodiversity is the fifth theme in the Green Schools Programme. We have successfully worked on maintained progress on the previous themes of Litter and Waste, Energy, Water and Travel.

We have completed surveys on bird species around the school and our knowledge of common Irish trees. We have conducted mini beast hunts and now have two insect 'hotels' in our garden. The older classes visited the Grand Canal and learned about the biodiversity of this area. The younger classes are involved in The Great Plant Hunt project. We will soon be painting tyres and using these as containers for planting. Last year we learned about the importance of bees and butterflies for our environment.

Here are some photos of what we have been up to!!
